WATCH: Karl-Anthony Towns breaks out a New York accent to pander to overzealous Knicks fans
Karl-Anthony Towns and his New York Knicks are heading to the Eastern Conference Finals thanks to Jayson Tatum injury. They locked up the series Friday night, dominating Boston 119-81 at Madison Square Garden.
Following the game, KAT did an interview with ESPN, where he decided to break out a New York accent to appease Knicks fans.
Karl-Anthony Towns with a not-so-subtle code switch
The concept of code switching is so strange to me. When people do it, they often don’t even realize they’re doing it. Karl-Anthony Towns does it regularly — someone has to have told him to cut it out by now.
He’ll go from sounding like a knock-off Jay-Z in one interview, to sounding like Lil Nas X in the next. It’s so, so weird.
KAT, just be yourself, man — whoever that may be. I wouldn’t know because you switch up the way you talk every five seconds, but still, I’m sure deep down you know who you truly are. Or maybe you don’t, who knows.
