Shocker: Frankie Luvu thinks NFL should ban the Tush Push
If there’s one person to single out as the catalyst for the NFL’s push to ban the Tush Push, it might just be Frankie Luvu.
He turned the play into a spectacle during the NFC Championship Game between the Eagles and Commanders, repeatedly leaping over the line in an attempt to “stop” it. While coaches like Sean McDermott whine about player safety, it was Luvu’s reckless antics that actually posed a real injury risk. If Jalen Hurts hadn’t started stepping out of the way each time Luvu launched himself, he could’ve easily gotten hurt.
So, it’s no surprise that Frankie Luvu is now publicly advocating for the play to be banned. During a recent appearance on Good Morning Football, he made his stance on the Tush Push pretty clear.
Frankie Luvu continuing to cry about the Tush Push
I’ll give Frankie Luvu this — at least he’s being honest. He’s not trying to hide behind some phony concern for player safety. He came right out and said it: the Tush Push is a cheat code because of Jordan Mailata and the rest of the Eagles’ lineup.
And he’s right — it is a cheat code. But only because the Eagles mastered it. They put in the work, they drilled it relentlessly, and they turned it into a weapon. Any team in the league could run it if they really wanted to, but they don’t. Why? Because they don’t have the personnel, and they don’t have the discipline to get good at it. So instead, they complain. Loudly. And now, the league seems ready to cave.
It’s sad. It’s pathetic. But it’s not at all surprising.
The NFL is expected to vote on the proposed ban this week. According to multiple reports, the Tush Push may soon meet its official end.
