Ben Maller calls Eagles coach Nick Siranni a “Pompous Schmuck” — proves sports talk radio is still stuck in 2003

Fox Sports Radio’s Ben Maller took time out of yelling into the void this week to go off on Nick Sirianni, calling him a “pompous a—hole schmuck” after the Eagles head coach signed a contract extension. Groundbreaking stuff, really. We’ve never seen this before — some old head with a microphone having a meltdown over Sirianni’s “antics” on the sideline. Super Bowl winning head coach Nick Siranni, I should add.

Welcome to 2025, where National sports talk radio is still recycling it’s Eagles approach from the Andy Reid era.

Let’s be real: this isn’t analysis. It’s a performative temper tantrum from a guy whose entire job is saying wild stuff just to stay relevant in between commercials for car insurance and erectile dysfunction pills.

What’s Maller’s actual gripe? That Sirianni shows emotion? That he talks trash back to fans? That he’s animated when his team’s cooking? God forbid a head coach has actual personality in the year 2025.

This is what these national radio guys do — they don’t watch the games, they just read a box score, skim Twitter for 30 seconds, and then start ranting like they’ve been covering the team since Chuck Bednarik. There’s no substance. No context. No understanding of what Sirianni actually means to this locker room, this city, and this franchise.

Nick Sirianni is Philly’s Guy Through and Through

Is Sirianni a little extra? Maybe. But so is Philadelphia. And that’s why we ride with him.

He’s fiery. He’s passionate. He wears his heart on his sleeve. And more importantly, he wins. The guy has more playoff wins than most of these talking heads have brain cells left. The Eagles have become the standard in the NFC over the last few years, and it’s no coincidence that it’s happened under Nick Sirianni’s watch.

Not to mention Nick Sirianni helped invent the most unstoppable play in the NFL; The Tush Push.

Manufactured Persona, Zero Substance

And look, if you needed any more proof that Ben Maller is just another sports radio character cosplaying as an expert, check out his Twitter bio.

The man proudly calls himself a “storyteller, provocateur, rabble-rouser, raconteur, professional blabbermouth, sarcasm specialist, doctorate in insomnia, and distant relative of Nostradamus.” That’s not insight — that’s a walking gimmick. Everything about this dude screams “please react to me,” because being loud and hated is the only currency left in his playbook.

Bottom line: Nick Sirianni isn’t going anywhere, and that contract extension just confirmed what we already knew — he is the guy. So let the national talk shows cry about him all they want. Let the Ben Mallers of the world yell into their echo chambers.

So enjoy the airtime, Ben. We’ll enjoy winning over here in Philadelphia.
