Brock Purdy

Brock Purdy acts like he took a noble pay cut, yet he’s still the 8th-highest paid QB in the NFL

Brock Purdy is becoming more insufferable by the minute. Last week, the 49ers handed him a five-year, $265 million extension with $181 million guaranteed.

It was rightfully clowned as a massive overpay—because it is. The guy went 1-7 in his final eight games, posted an average 96.1 passer rating, and somehow got rewarded. Must be nice.

You’d think he’d just take the money and stay quiet. But not Purdy—he’s out here acting like he took a pay cut for the good of the team. Give me a break.

This is hilarious.

Does Brock Purdy think we can’t read contract details? He’s set to make an average of $53 million per year, making him the 8th-highest paid QB in the league. Sure, it’s backloaded—just over $9 million against the cap in 2025, then it jumps to $24 million and $30.8 million the next two years—but still.

No one wants to hear a guy with $181 million guaranteed act like he’s doing the team a favor. Meanwhile, the Niners have offloaded Deebo Samuel, Javon Hargrave, Talanoa Hufanga, and Dre Greenlaw—not because they wanted to, but because they had to make room for Purdy’s payday.

And the kicker? He’s not even that good. He was average last year and missed the playoffs entirely. He’s firmly in the Dak Prescott tier: good enough to make noise, never enough to win it all. As an Eagles fan, I love every second of it.
