John Pak is fueled by Knicks Pain, which might make him a problem at Colonial

I’ve never wanted someone to lose more than John Pak—and it has nothing to do with his game. Guy shot a 63 at Colonial on Thursday. Lights out. Career low. Took the lead at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Good for him… I guess.

“I’m a die-hard Knicks fan, and that historically was one of the worst losses I’ve ever seen in my life. There was a fire lit under me this morning. I was a little pissed off about that.”

Look, we don’t root for Knicks fans around here. This is Philadelphia and that type of dirty, scumbag fandom simply doesn’t fly around here.

You could be splitting fairways and flagging irons all day, but if you’re showing up to a PGA TOUR event talking about how Game 1 at the Garden broke your soul, I hope you push one OB on 17 and three-putt 18 for bogey.

But here’s the problem—losing might actually be this guy’s secret weapon. If the Knicks meltdown is what sparked that 63, then buckle up.

It may be early, but I’m confident in saying that the Knicks are cooked. Done. Haliburton hit the choke sign on Reggie Miller’s home turf and they’re out here getting hunted by Aaron Nesmith. New York isn’t surviving this series, which means Pak might just go full scorched earth on the leaderboard.

So yeah, I want him to lose. I want him to shoot a 74, blow the lead, and miss the cut. But I’m also self-aware enough to recognize that if “Knicks trauma” is his fuel source, we might be looking at a dude who’s about to win by five.
