Report: Eagles trade Bryce Huff to 49ers for mid-round pick

Bryce Huff’s short tenure in Philadelphia has come to an end.

First reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles have traded Huff to the 49ers for a mid-round pick.

As Schefter notes above, Huff has reworked his contract to facilitate the deal. The trade won’t be finalized until after June 1.

The Eagles will reportedly save $7.95 million in cash and create more than $15 million in cap space with a reworked deal, which would include the Eagles taking on $9.05 million of Huff’s salary and the 49ers paying the remaining $7.95 million.

Huff couldn’t ask for a better landing spot as he reunites with Robert Saleh in San Francisco. While playing under Saleh with the Jets, Huff saw his most productive seasons, including a ten-sack campaign in 2023.

Those numbers earned him a three-year, $51.1 million deal with the Eagles, but he and Vic Fangio never got on the same page. Huff recorded just 2.5 sacks last season before suffering a wrist injury and was a healthy scratch for Super Bowl LIX vs. Kansas City.

The Eagles winning a championship without one of their top free-agent signings is a testament to Howie Roseman’s roster building, but this is a contract he undoubtedly regrets.

If anything, Bryce Huff can call himself a Super Bowl champion.
