Saquon Barkley gets the Madden 26 Cover and a Geno’s Takeover—What a time to be alive
What a day for Saquon Barkley. You wake up, you’re on the cover of Madden 26, and then you head down to South Philly to find Geno’s Steaks completely transformed into… Steakquon’s. You can’t script it better than that.
If you missed it, EA Sports pulled off a pretty cool stunt to unveil Saquon as this year’s Madden cover athlete. They took over the Geno’s facade, plastered it with “Steakquon’s” signage, and the crowd in South Philly went wild.
Chaos in the streets, and deservedly so—this is the first time an Eagle has been on the Madden cover since Donovan McNabb in 2006.

Saquon more than earned it, too. He’s coming off a ridiculous season: most rushing yards ever in a single season (including playoffs), a Super Bowl ring, and now the face of the best-selling sports video game in the country.
Plus, his signature no-look hurdle will be the actual cover image. Oh, and he’s dropping into Madden 26 with a 99 overall rating. You love to see it.

In Saquon’s own words: “It’s something you dream about as a kid. There’s a lot of accolades you want in your football career, and Madden’s definitely one of them… 99 is cool because as a kid and even as an adult — I’m embarrassed to admit that — I make myself 99 anyway.”

Same here, Saquon. Same here.
Another fun Philly tie-in? Kate Scott—yes, Sixers play-by-play announcer Kate Scott—is back on Madden again this year as a voice in the game. It’s her second straight year doing voice work for the series. Pretty awesome representation for the city.
Now, naturally, this brings up the age-old Madden Curse debate. Are we still doing that? I’m going to say no. Christian McCaffrey was fine last year, Josh Allen had a monster season two years ago, and Mahomes already smashed the curse narrative years ago.
The last time it really felt “real” was when Antonio Brown completely fell off the map after landing on the 2019 cover. We’re past it.
Book It: Saquon is going to have another banner year.
I haven’t purchased a copy of Madden in years but I guess at this point, I’ll be buying Madden 26 the second it drops and running the Tush Push 25 times a game against the Packers.
Hell, at this point, I would probably even eat at Steakquons, even if it’s just an overrated Geno’s cheesesteak masked as something else. All in all, an A+ rollout. The Eagles are hot, Saquon is the star of the city, and South Philly once again becomes the epicenter of the football world. What a time.
