Eagles young corner is ready to take next step in 2025
Kelee Ringo is saying all the right things this offseason, and if the Eagles want their revamped secondary to click in 2025, he’ll need to back it up on the field.
After seeing limited action in his first two seasons, Ringo now finds himself in the mix for a starting role — and for the first time, it really feels like the coaching staff is expecting him to seize it.
Asked this week whether he improved despite not playing much defensive back in 2024, Ringo gave a great answer.
Eagles third-year corner is ready to step up in 2025
“Diving into the playbook, learning other positions that aren’t even mine, so that I know where my help is.” That kind of mindset shows maturity and a broader understanding of the defense as a whole, which is exactly what you want from a young cornerback stepping into a bigger role.
The Eagles have turned the page in the secondary. Darius Slay is gone. So is Isaiah Rodgers. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean are in place, but that’s just in their base package — someone needs to step up when the Birds go into the nickel.
Ringo’s got two years of practice reps, and he’s flashed on special teams. The Eagles now need to find out if that can translate into consistent play on the outside — or at least enough to be part of a cornerback rotation that can survive a 17-game grind.

Physically, Ringo checks all the boxes. He’s big, fast, and built to play press-man coverage. The challenge has always been about technique and processing. Can he trust what he sees and react with confidence? If his offseason preparation carries into training camp and beyond, there’s no reason he can’t take a leap and become a key contributor.
The Eagles don’t need Ringo to be a superstar. They just need him to be reliable — and that opportunity is sitting right in front of him. No more redshirting. No more waiting in the wings. If Kelee Ringo is ready, 2025 is the year he proves it.
