Former Eagles wideout rips 2018 locker room, but thankfully those days are over
Golden Tate didn’t hold back.
On a recent episode of Bussin’ With The Boys, the former Eagles wide receiver called his brief stint in Philadelphia the “most dysfunctional” locker room he was ever part of. It’s a strong statement from a guy who spent time on multiple teams over an 11-year career, but he made it clear—things were weird in 2018.

Tate talked about everything from a comically undersized indoor practice field to a bizarre fight between a coach and an offensive lineman during a walkthrough. Meanwhile, Doug Pederson just stood there holding his notecard like it was a weekday in June. Tate sounded genuinely stunned by the chaos and questioned how a team trying to make a playoff push could be operating like that behind the scenes.
Eagles locker room isn’t that mess anymore
And thank God those days are gone.
Fast forward to 2025, and the Eagles are coming off a dominant Super Bowl win over the Chiefs, riding one of the most complete rosters in football. From Jalen Hurts’ leadership to a rock-solid locker room culture led by guys like Jordan Mailata, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert, this is a completely different era of Eagles football.
You don’t hear about fistfights at walkthroughs. You don’t hear about dysfunction. You hear about accountability, chemistry, and a team that’s been through the fire together. Brandon Graham may have just retired, but his legacy—built on professionalism and leadership—still lingers in that building.
The Eagles were 15-2, blowing teams out down the stretch and steamrolling through the playoffs. You don’t build that kind of consistency if things are off behind the scenes. The results speak for themselves, and if anything, Golden Tate’s comments are a reminder of just how far this organization has come.
We’re no longer talking about who’s throwing footballs at who. We’re talking about who’s bringing another Lombardi back to Philly.
And right now, all signs point to the Eagles doing it again.
