Forget Kevin Durant, the Sixers should be all over this mock trade to land Devin Booker instead
Everyone (TLL) loves to bring up the Kevin Durant to Philly rumors every time the Sixers have cap space and draft picks. It’s an annual tradition at this point.
But if you’re really looking for a blockbuster that makes sense, Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey just floated a much more interesting idea:
Devin Booker to Philly.
Here’s the full trade proposal Bailey threw out there:
Sixers receive:
- Devin Booker
Suns receive:
- Paul George
- No. 3 overall pick
- 2028 first-round pick
- 2030 first-round pick
- 2032 first-round pick swap
I absolutely hate Bleacher Report and their constant barrage of “mock trades” that people report as fact but this one, while extremely unlikely, definitely caught my attention.
There’s a lot of “if” here. If Phoenix would ever actually consider moving Devin Booker, which is already extremely unlikely, they would have to eat up Paul George’s max contract. In terms of the type of move the Sixers should be hunting, however, it’s hard to argue that this is not it.
Forget Durant — at this point, adding a 36-year-old with a shaky injury history to a roster built around Joel Embiid sounds like asking for heartbreak. Booker however, is still in his prime at 28 and remains one of the league’s smoothest scorers. It doesn’t matter where he is on the court. He can play on-ball or off and would fit perfectly next to Tyrese Maxey and Embiid.
Just please don’t tell our guy Drew Smith…
Not like he reads anything before he writes, let alone a mock trade from Bleacher Report, but this guy is still out there (pathetically) tweeting his little heart out trying to land KD.
Enticing? Not really. Pathetic for sure, but his embarrassing pleads for KD to come to Philly have noticeably gotten no where.
You drop Devin Booker on this current Sixers roster and you’re instantly a top contender in the East. He’s exactly the kind of perimeter shot-maker and late-game scorer the Sixers have lacked in every one of these second-round exits.
Would it cost a lot? Of course. But if you can land Devin Booker, you gladly send out those picks and figure out the rest later. I doubt it will happen. Bleacher Report trade ideas rarely pan out but hey, here’s to hoping a miracle happens.
