Family Heater: TJ McConnell is playing in the NBA Finals and his sister Megan just made her WNBA debut
Family of hoopers. Just as TJ McConnell snatched Game 1 of the NBA Finals with the Pacers, his sister Megan McConnell signed with the Phoenix Mercury and made her WNBA debut this week. That’s some serious basketball DNA.
It really is wild when you start thinking about all the families with generational talent. The Mannings, Currys, Gasols, Williams sisters, Kordas, you name it. Now the McConnells are adding their name to that list.
It gets even crazier when you realize you had no clue TJ even had a sister.
TJ McConnell is a contributor on an NBA Finals team. Turns out, his scrappy defense and energy plays…go figure. The Process legend is on the court hitting floaters, helping the Pacers reach the Finals while the Sixers are… well, not in the Finals. And now his sister Megan is making moves of her own.
Megan McConnell signed with Phoenix earlier this week and got her first taste of WNBA action. I’ll be honest, I haven’t watched any of Megan’s game yet, but based on the bloodline? I’m betting she’s a full-court pest, probably hits that midrange jumper off the dribble, and plays exactly the kind of team-first, gritty style we’re used to seeing.
Damn.
Unfortunately, Megan got banged up during her debut, but the early word is that it’s nothing major. Hopefully, she’s back out there soon.
Either way, this family is on fire right now. One sibling is in the NBA Finals. Another cracking a WNBA roster. That’s the dream.
