The NBA Finals were missing something and they attempted to fix it last night…
Look, I’ll say it: the NBA Finals feel like it’s been missing something the last few years. The basketball has been just fine — Tyrese Haliburton hitting that cold-blooded game-winner to steal Game 1 on the road? Incredible. But even that moment didn’t land like it should’ve. And it’s not on the players.
It’s on the league. Because somehow, some way, Adam Silver and the NBA managed to suck the soul out of their biggest stage.
Where the Hell Is the Trophy?
No Larry O’Brien Trophy at center court?
No NBA Finals patches stitched onto jerseys?
No classic gold-on-black aura to make the moment feel bigger than basketball?
Nah. But Adam Silver had no problem putting in all this effort to make those disgusting looking NBA In-Season Tournament courts. With that said, he had all of our complaints and attempted to solve this matter by putting two small, CGI looking trophies on the court.
Everyone: “We want the Trophy Logo back at midcourt for the NBA Finals”

You had one job. To make the NBA Finals look like the NBA Finals, and you blew it.
These weren’t sleek or symbolic. They looked like low-budget props from a dystopian video game trailer. You’re the NBA — not some low budget movie production team. Give us the real thing.

Fans immediately clowned it on Twitter, Reddit, and everywhere in between. Some said it looked like the “off-brand 2K mobile version of the Finals.” Others said it felt like a glorified regular season game.
And they’re right.
Bring Back the Damn Finals Court
I don’t care how many TikToks the NBA wants to trend. I don’t care how “clean” they think minimalist court design looks. Put the damn Larry O’Brien Trophy back at center court. Gold. Giant. Center stage. Let it glare under the lights like it used to.
Players want it. Fans demand it. This isn’t the All-Star Game or some Nike tech demo. It’s the NBA Finals.
Make it feel like it again.
