Report: Eagles sign first-round pick Jihaad Campbell to rookie contract

The Philadelphia Eagles have officially locked in their top draft pick.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the team has signed first-round LB Jihadd Campbell to a four-year contract worth $14.903 million, fully guaranteed. The deal includes a fifth-year team option, which is standard for first-round picks.

Selected No. 31 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Campbell arrives in Philadelphia following a standout junior season at Alabama, leading the Crimson Tide in tackles (119), sacks (5), and forced fumbles (2).

The Eagles sent a fifth-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs to trade up for Campbell’s services — a decision general manager Howie Roseman said was “an easy call” given Campbell’s profile and potential.

“We picked Jihaad Campbell, we made a small trade up just to ensure we could get him. There were a lot of trades in the 20s and we wanted to make sure someone didn’t jump ahead of us. Excited to have him, really excited to have him. Wasn’t really something we anticipated,” Roseman told reporters.

“This was a really easy pick. Really explosive player, he can play inside, he can be an edge rusher, just really feel fortunate to bring him home back to Philly.

Philadelphia boasted the NFL’s top defense last season but faced significant departures this offseason, including edge-rusher Josh Sweat and DT Milton Williams.

The addition of Campbell is expected to help offset those losses and keep the unit among the league’s elite.
