If you’re still pretending WNBA players aren’t actively targeting Caitlin Clark every single game, I don’t know what to tell you. Monday night against the Sun was just the latest disgusting display of what has become business as usual: beat the hell out of Caitlin Clark and dare the refs to do anything about it.

This time, it wasn’t just a hard foul. It wasn’t just a cheap shot. It was Marina Mabrey coming in shoulder-first and decking Clark to the hardwood during a dead ball, and somehow—somehow—she didn’t get ejected. What are we even doing?

Let’s backtrack for a second. Late second quarter, Clark gets mugged by Jacy Sheldon, who’s been hanging on her all night like a backpack. No whistle. Clark clearly had enough, gave Sheldon a little shove after the play and started walking away.

Enter Marina Mabrey, who inserts herself in a situation she had no business being in, and gives Clark a little shove herself. Okay, whatever. Cooler heads prevail—for now.

Then the third quarter happens.

Sheldon pokes Caitlin in the damn eye while playing defense. Finally, a whistle. Clark—rightfully pissed—says something back. A few more words are exchanged, and then all hell breaks loose. That’s when Marina Mabrey comes flying in out of nowhere and shoulder-checks Clark to the floor like it’s the NHL.

And the punishment for all that? A technical for Mabrey. A technical for Clark. A technical for Tina Charles. And Sheldon gets her foul upgraded to a flagrant.
