Data Breach: 16 billion passwords have leaked, and some of you are in trouble

Forbes has reported that 16 billion passwords have been leaked, including ones to Apple, Google, and Facebook accounts. And that means you, yes you, should probably go and change your passwords.

This many passwords leaking at once is considered the largest data breach in history:

That opens pretty much anyone to identity theft or someone hacking their email or social media. But honestly, it could go much deeper than just the deranged Facebook feeds of the average American.

Let’s look at this logically. Given the security requirements of the Trump administration, I wouldn’t be surprised if some snot-nosed kid in Chongqing or Vladivostok has access to the majority of our missile systems and nuclear program.

I have to imagine the password is something like “beautifulnukes47.” I honestly wouldn’t even be mad about it, though, since the nukes are quite beautiful. That I won’y argue.

But the issue goes across the aisle as well. I imagine that when Joe Biden was still able to use a computer, his passwords were extremely easy to decipher.

Plus, there’s the Hunter thing, but that’s almost too obvious. He didn’t even get hacked; he was just having such a good time that he lost his laptop filled with incriminating evidence. No need for an expert hacker there, just a guy working at a computer repair store.

But I digress. Is this data breach even real anyway? I just wrote a whole blog about it, and I’m not going to change any of my passwords. I thought maybe I’d scare some sense into myself researching this, but my eyes just glazed over, and I retained none of it.
