Sophie Cunningham gains a Philly fan in Eagles running back

Sophie Cunningham is catching bodies — and fans.

After a chippy matchup with the Connecticut Sun where she played enforcer for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, Sophie Cunningham managed to pick up a pretty unexpected supporter: new Eagles running back AJ Dillon.

The veteran bruiser didn’t offer much in the way of context, but Dillon took to social media midweek and posted a screenshot of a Sophie Cunningham jersey in his shopping cart. No caption. No explanation. Just vibes. Clearly, the chaos spoke to him.

It’s not hard to see why. Cunningham was in full pest mode all night against the Sun, sticking to Clark’s hip and jawing back at anyone who wanted smoke. Dillon, now a member of the Birds after signing a one-year deal in free agency, seems to be embracing that same energy as he gears up for a fresh start behind Saquon Barkley.\

Sophie Cunningham and AJ Dillon: A Match Made in Chaos

Cunningham’s rise as a WNBA villain (depending who you ask) mirrors Dillon’s career arc a bit. Both are physical, no-nonsense players who thrive in tough roles. Cunningham plays with an edge that’s rare in the modern game — and Philly respects that. Dillon might be new to the city, but if he’s out here repping Sophie Cunningham, he’s already understanding the assignment.

The Birds’ backfield went through a bit of a shakeup this offseason. Kenneth Gainwell is out. Will Shipley is in. But it was Dillon’s signing that really turned heads. While his last season in Green Bay was quiet — just 613 yards and two scores — he’s just a year removed from punching in seven touchdowns. Now, he’ll be running behind one of the nastiest offensive lines in football, with fresh legs and a city full of lunatics behind him.

Philly Can’t Get Enough of Sophie Cunningham

It’s not just Dillon, either. Philly loves chaos. And Sophie Cunningham brings it in buckets. Whether she’s drawing contact, flustering stars, or flexing on the bench with Clark, she’s got that Philly sports DNA. All gas, no brakes.

Honestly, we’ve reached the point where I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cunningham courtside at the Linc this fall, rocking a midnight green jersey with Dillon’s number on it. And knowing this city? She’d get a standing ovation just for existing.

So yeah — file this one under “unexpected offseason crossovers that absolutely rule.” Sophie Cunningham’s game caught the attention of an NFL running back, and just like that, her fanbase now includes the city of Philadelphia.

Welcome to the family.
