Things are heating up at the trade deadline, and Jeff Passan is stirring the pot again by naming Adolis García in a laundry list of players that could shake up the NL East race.

According to Passan, the Phillies are a potential landing spot for the former ALCS MVP, as the struggling Texas Rangers hover below .500 and may start moving players who aren’t tied down long term.

Adolis García is under contract through 2026, which makes him slightly more than just a rental, and that’s exactly the type of bat that could interest Dave Dombrowski.

Adolis García, 32, is having a down year by his standards, hitting .233 with 9 home runs, 37 RBI, and 7 stolen bases. But he’s a career .238 hitter who averages 30 bombs a season and can play all three outfield spots. He’s got power, energy, and postseason pedigree.

Remember, Adolis García hit five homers in the 2023 ALCS alone.

There are concerns with his strikeout rate and consistency, but if you’re the Phillies and you’re looking to bolster the lineup without mortgaging the future, Adolis García is a name that makes sense.

He brings right-handed pop, positional flexibility, and swagger – all of which could go a long way in a tight playoff push. If the price is manageable, the fit is real.
