76ers trading for Jaylen Brown? The phones are ringing in Boston reportedly ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft

I know the headline is a wild one so please 76ers fans, bare with me. We have finally reached the NBA Draft and the true madness begins for the city of Philadelphia with the No. 3 overall pick tonight.

Since we all know Cooper Flagg is a lock to be No. 1 overall and Dylan Harper is basically penciled in at No. 2, I don’t think anyone truly knows what’s going to happen with Daryl Morey and the Sixers when we arrive at the third pick. Whether that’s a good or bad thing, is yet to be determined.

Sixers fans, bare with me here. It’s NBA Draft day and the real madness truly begins with the 76ers and pick number 3. Since we all know Cooper Flagg is going number one overall and Dylan Harper is the likely pick at 2, whether the Spurs stand pat or not.

Just when you thought the NBA offseason couldn’t get any more chaotic, Shams Charania drops a little grenade on our heads and walks away like it’s nothing.

Shams Jaylen Brown Report: Are the 76ers going to make the call?

I mean you obviously make the call, right? Who’s going to be the team that actually makes a blockbuster trade like this happen? Could it really be a team that when healthy, has Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George already looking to make a Finals run and who also holds the No. 3 overall pick in the NBA Draft?

Listen, the Boston Celtics, oddly enough, are now sellers. The East is wide open next season. Haliburton is on the shelf and up in Boston, Tatum’s injury and an on-going salary cap dilemma could free up guys like Jalen Brown for any team willing to make a trade tonight.

We all thought the 76ers were screwed after that disastrous finish to the season, but fuck it, maybe it’s finally time for the Basketball Gods to throw us a bone.

The ping pong balls bounced in Philly’s favor, landing us the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and if no one is sold on VJ Edgecombe or Ace The Rat Bailey, then why not trade the pick for someone like Jalen Brown?

Most of the noise around the team suggests Daryl Morey is leaning toward keeping the pick but if Jaylen Brown is actually on the table, then all bets are off.

You pick up the phone and mortgage the pick. Hell, you drive it to Boston yourself and beg Jalen Brown to make the trip back down I-95.

Why Jaylen Brown Makes Sense for Philly

Look, I’m as skeptical as the next guy when it comes to the 76ers making smart, aggressive moves, especially with Boston of all teams. We’ve lived through enough heartbreak. If this team somehow pulls off a deal for Jaylen Brown, we’re cooking with gas.

Brown is 28 years old. He’s in his prime. He’s a two-way wing who has actually performed on the biggest stages. He’s tough. He defends. He scores. He doesn’t disappear when it matters most (Paul George). He fits perfectly alongside Embiid and Maxey.

You want a real Big Three? That’s a real Big Three.

Of course, Boston would want the No. 3 pick. They’d probably also ask us to reroute Paul George in some kind of three-team deal, which is fine, obviously.

Dream Scenario or Real Possibility?

This is still very unlikely. The Celtics just won a championship. They’d be nuts to break it up. But if there’s even a 5% chance Jaylen Brown becomes available, you do everything in your power to make that happen.

No more wasting time trying to develop the next project wing or praying some 19-year-old pans out in four years. Which, is still a very good option; especially given my desire for Ace Bailey on this team.

However, you have Joel Embiid now. You have Tyrese Maxey now. You want to win a title? Go get someone who’s been to the mountaintop.

Jaylen Brown is that guy.

If the phones are ringing in Boston, then the 76ers better be the ones blowing them up. This team has a window — a small one — and if Jaylen Brown can help kick that sucker wide open, then make the damn trade.
