Travis Kelce is still reeling from Eagles’ Super Bowl beatdown

The name Travis Kelce might carry weight across the NFL, but even he couldn’t stop what happened in New Orleans this past February. Super Bowl LIX was supposed to be another chapter in the Chiefs’ dynasty run, until the Philadelphia Eagles steamrolled their way to a 40-22 win and slammed that window shut.

Now months removed from the beatdown, Travis Kelce is finally opening up about just how bad things really got for Kansas City. Speaking on Bussin’ With The Boys, Kelce didn’t sugarcoat a thing.

Travis Kelce on the Super Bowl LIX beatdown:

“From the D-Line, to the linebackers, to the defensive backs, everywhere on that football field they had guys flying around,” Kelce said. “Even when we got the right call, it was like we were just a step off or timing was off.”

That “step off” showed up early and often. The Eagles led 7-0 after one quarter and were up 24-0 at halftime while Kendrick Lamar lit up the halftime show. The Chiefs tried to salvage some dignity late with 16 fourth-quarter points, but by then the game was long over.

“(Patrick Mahomes) was under duress. We had to just figure things out on the run and it was an uphill battle all [expletive] day,” Travis Kelce admitted. “If you control the line of scrimmage in the Super Bowl, it’s going to get ugly for you.”

And ugly it was.

While Eagles fans bask in their second Super Bowl title, it’s clear the loss is still gnawing at Kansas City’s star tight end. But don’t think for a second he’s moved on.

“I’ve already kind of went down the rabbit hole,” Kelce said. “I’m just motivated for this year, man. We got them I think Week 2, somewhere early. And, yeah. We’ll get this thing [expletive] rocking and rolling.”

Travis Kelce has revenge on his mind — but so do the Eagles, who have now faced Kansas City in two of the last three Super Bowls. Don’t be surprised if they’re headed for Round 3 soon enough.

And based on what we all saw in February, Philly won’t be the ones losing sleep over it.
