Is Jalen Hurts the Greatest QB in Eagles history? One former NFL player thinks so
Another day, another NFL hot take. This time, it came from former Super Bowl champion and current analyst Will Colón. Who decided to chime into the Jalen Hurts debate. Or, combat the Hurts engagement farm, which is what we call it here at TheLibertyLine.
He brought up a very interesting talking point and honestly shoutout to him. Instead of just trying to takeaway from the greatness of the Super Bowl MVP, he actually used his brain to come up with something worth discussing.
Is Jalen Hurts the greatest QB in Eagles history?
"He's the best quarterback in @Eagles history"👀

Alright, so let’s really dive into this. If you’re an Eagles fan you’re probably aware of how strange the legacy of Eagles quarterbacks are.
The Philadelphia Eagles have had three different quarterbacks start in the Super Bowl over the last 25 years. That’s rare air. Some teams have never even been to one. We’ve seen Donovan McNabb, Nick Foles, and now Jalen Hurts all lead the Birds on the biggest stage. On top of that, you’ve got names like Carson Wentz and Michael Vick who had incredible peaks — but faded quickly.
- McNabb? Franchise record holder across the board. But he never got it done when it mattered most.
- Foles? Delivered a Lombardi, yes. But he was a backup turned legend — not a franchise cornerstone.
- Randall Cunningham? One of the most physically gifted QBs of all time. An icon. But he played in an era where the team wasn’t built to win — and unfortunately never won a Super Bowl.
- Wentz & Vick? Lightning in a bottle. Flashy, explosive, but ultimately inconsistent or unavailable when it counted.
So yeah, picking “the best QB in Eagles history” isn’t cut and dry.
What Sets Jalen Hurts Apart? It’s Not Just Stats — It’s Winning
Look, I’m not going to bore you with a bunch of numbers. This isn’t some PFF spreadsheet debate. This is common sense. You watch the games? You’ve seen it with your own eyes.
Hurts wins. Period.
Since taking over the team in 2021, Jalen Hurts has gone 46-20 as a starting quarterback. He’s made it to two Super Bowls, and played like the best player on the field in both — even when the Eagles lost to the Chiefs.
And remember, this was a guy drafted in the second round to be a backup. Now he’s the face of the franchise, one of the most respected leaders in the entire NFL, and has already accomplished more than any QB in franchise history by the age of 25.
Hurts doesn’t need to break every single passing record. He doesn’t have to be the flashiest arm or the best runner. What he is — is consistent, clutch, and built for the moment. That’s what separates him from everyone else who’s worn midnight green under center.
And the beauty of it? He’s just getting started.
