Kelsey Plum takes a weird jab at Caitlin Clark, gets hit right back
Kelsey Plum decided to get spicy during WNBA All-Star Weekend — and for some reason, Caitlin Clark was her target.
Let’s start with the facts: Clark didn’t play in the game due to injury, but she was still front and center throughout the weekend, going to events, hyping up the league, and doing what she’s done all year, draw attention to the WNBA like nobody ever has.
Then out of nowhere, Kelsey Plum tossed a jab in her direction. During her postgame interview, Plum called out Clark for not being present at a players-only meeting where they decided to wear “Pay us what you owe us” shirts. Subtle? Not at all. Necessary? Absolutely not.
Kelsey Plum take a shot at Clark for no reason:
Let’s be real, Caitlin Clark is quite literally the reason the WNBA is even in a position to ask for more money. She’s packing arenas, driving ratings through the roof, and putting butts in seats from coast to coast. So for Kelsey Plum to come out swinging like Clark ghosted a union meeting felt off. It’s like yelling at the person who brought the food to the cookout for not helping set up the grill.
Of course, Clark didn’t let it slide.
Plum posted a celebratory Instagram photo from the weekend captioned “What a weekend.” Clark replied with a stone-cold six-word dagger: “Thank u for the Nike ad.”
For those keeping score at home, Plum is signed to Under Armour. Clark? Nike. And wouldn’t you know it, that background in Plum’s photo featured a big, beautiful swoosh. Clark didn’t need a press conference. She just let the comment section do the work.
This Plum-Clark back-and-forth might be heating up into a full-blown rivalry. And with Clark’s Fever set to play Plum’s Sparks on August 5, you better believe all eyes will be locked in.
But let’s just remember — before the shade and the side-eyes — Clark is a big reason there’s even a spotlight to stand in. Keep that same energy.
