Caitlin Clark might be recruiting Sabrina Ionescu to form the WNBA’s version of the Splash Bros — And it would break basketball
Caitlin Clark might’ve just sent a shot heard around the WNBA — and she did it with a single Instagram comment. Forget subtle. Forget passive-aggressive. Clark is clearly planting seeds for something way bigger than people realize.
Sabrina Ionescu. Caitlin Clark. On the same team? That’s not just a power move — that’s potentially the greatest shooting duo in the history of women’s basketball.
We’re talking WNBA Splash Sisters — Clark as Steph Curry, Ionescu as Klay Thompson. Nightly fireworks. Must-see TV. League-altering stuff.
And it all started with this:

For those who aren’t aware, this past weekend, the WNBA descended on Indianapolis for the 2025 All-Star Weekend, and New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu — a four-time All-Star and reigning three-point contest champ — was right at home inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
She posted up on Instagram with a series of All-Star photos, including one with Caitlin Clark sitting next to her in the Fever locker room. And obviously Clark wasted no time recruiting the sharpshooter. Which is truly some next level stuff from the face of the league, who is clearly aware that Ionescu could have a big decision ahead of her this offseason.
Sabrina Is a Free Agent After This Season — So This Is Very Real
Here’s the kicker: Sabrina Ionescu will be an unrestricted free agent after this season. She’ll have the chance to choose anywhere she wants to go. And if she wants to truly maximize and prolong her career, she would be wise to join forces with Caitlin Clark — the Fever can and should roll out the red carpet if that is her desire.
Not only would this create the WNBA’s first true super shooting duo, but it would also cement Indiana as the epicenter of women’s basketball for the next decade.
Now before you comment on this and ask, “how would these two fit? they both play point guard…”
It’s not rocket science. Clark is a walking triple-double threat who’s best skill is actually creating for others. Ionescu has already shown she can thrive off-ball. It’s the same formula that turned Steph and Klay into legends. Let Clark run the show, and let Sabrina feast off the gravity that only a generational passer like Clark provides.
While this may all just be fun and games from Clark (I doubt it, she’s an extreme competitor), I think it makes a lot of sense for the WNBA for a move like this.
With the looming labor dispute, and a potential lockout (lol, I know), a huge roster shakeup like this could change so much for the “W”. They would be forced to put every single Indiana Fever game on National TV and the ratings would back that decision.
Not only am I rooting for this to happen. But you should be too.
