Eagles bring back familiar face to join forces with Howie Roseman

The band’s officially back together. The Philadelphia Eagles made a splash right before training camp by bringing a very familiar face back into the front office, Joe freakin‘ Douglas.

The team officially announced Douglas’ new title on Monday as Senior Personnel Director/Advisor to the General Manager, reuniting him with Howie Roseman in the building where they once hoisted the Lombardi Trophy together.

This isn’t just some symbolic reunion tour. Douglas helped build the 2017 Super Bowl roster. Now he’s back in the war room? Buckle up.

Eagles reunite Howie Roseman and Joe Douglas

Joe Douglas was a key voice during the Eagles’ championship era, serving as Vice President of Player Personnel. His fingerprints are all over that 2017 roster, from drafting Carson Wentz (say what you want now, but he was an MVP candidate) to finding dudes who contributed under the brightest lights.

“Joe helped build a championship team here before, and we know what he brings to the table,” a team source told The Liberty Line. “He’s back where he belongs.”

After Philly, Douglas dipped to New York to try and save the Jets. It didn’t go well.

Despite adding big names like Aaron Rodgers and Sauce Gardner, Douglas went 27-56 as GM of the Jets and got canned after another embarrassing five-win season in 2024.

While Douglas may get some of the blame, I think we are all very well aware that there’s no saving the New York Jets.

Joe Douglas Didn’t Fall Off, He’s Just Coming Back Home

Not everyone is cut out to run their own show. That doesn’t mean Douglas forgot how to evaluate talent. The guy knows how to scout, he knows Philly, and most importantly, he knows Howie.

This front office is already stacked, and now with Douglas back in the mix? We’re talking about the Avengers of NFL scouting. Howie’s on a heater with his recent drafts. Add Joe Douglas into that brain trust, and you’ve got a front office that’s about to be cooking with jet fuel.
