Kyle Schwarber Phillies Fans Blank Checks

PAY THE MAN: Phillies fans are bringing blank checks to Citizens Bank Park for Kyle Schwarber

There’s no sugarcoating it, Kyle Schwarber has been incredible this season.

Schwarbs is up to 33 home runs and 75 RBI, while hitting .248 with a .934 OPS and has literally carried the Phillies multiple times throughout the season.

The contract extension remains the hot topic. I think everyone (including Schwarber) wants to be back in Philadelphia next year. Obviously, no one wants Schwarber to leave town. His numbers and what he’s done on at the plate and in the clubhouse are nearly invaluable to any baseball team.

That being said, Phillies fans are getting restless and we’re entering #SignJT waters now that we are post-All Star Break. That worked. The Phillies listened to the fans and kept JT Realmuto in Philly.

Now, fans at Citizens Bank Park are bringing oversized blank checks to pay Schwarber whatever he wants, which is absolutely incredible.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the extension gets finalized after the postseason. If the Phillies make it to the NLCS or World Series, Kyle Schwarber will get a new contact.

Anything short of that might result in Dave Dombrowski and John Middleton opting to completely shake things up and look elsewhere to retool this lineup around Bryce Harper and Trea Turner.

I still don’t see that happening. You won’t find a better DH and if you’re expanding the horizon to cover outfielders, than the Phillies can’t afford to lose that type of production either way.

Kyle Schwarber needs a contract extension to keep the championship window open for the Phillies. We’ll have to wait and see how John Middleton and Dave Dombrowski handle it when it’s all said and done this year.
