Gatorade WNBA Ad Campaign

Gatorade might want to rethink their new WNBA ad campaign

I debated writing this article at least 50 times over the past few hours because I know the internet sleuths will reply with a million reasons why Gatorade’s new advertising campaign for the WNBA is perfectly fine and I’m the problem.

While that might be true, I also remembered that internet sleuths are the most miserable, self-hating bunch on planet earth and I could honestly give two shits about anything that they say in the first place, so it’s perfectly fine for me to question why Gatorade’s slogan for the WNBA is “Let Her Cook.”

Gatorade and the WNBA: Let Her Cook

Is this what Gatorade wanted?

I mean it has to be a joke right? A play on words, maybe? Someone in that Gatorade boardroom had to at least question the slogan and bring up the obvious, right?

I really hope this isn’t a “taking back the phrase” situation and its more along the lines of just having pictures of their campaign plastered all over the internet with jokes pouring in from one side while the holier-than-thou crowd criticizes them for thinking it’s funny.

If that’s the case, then it absolutely worked. Genius advertising, 10 out of 10, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.

Never be this person on the internet. They are the worst.

At the very least, I always enjoy reading the reactions to something like this.

“BoOmErS dOn’T uNdErStAnD…”

Let me stop you right there. In no way am I defending the boomers. They have put the rest of us in one hell of a pickle these days. Everything that we’re dealing with, is their fault. Obviously. However, I really don’t think this comes from a lack of understanding of today’s nomenclature.

By far my favorite reaction

It’s nice to see Gatorade and the WNBA uphold biblical womanhood for a change. (Titus 2:4-5) “That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, {5} To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

Again, I have no idea if this person is joking or what. I really hope they are. Anyone who would post something like that and be completely serious, is someone you should stay the fuck away from at all costs. Also, who the fuck is Titus? Sounds like someone from the 90’s who decided to write down a nice way to say “Let Her Cook” in biblical terms.

Either way, good stuff from Gatorade.

This is the best ad campaign I’ve seen in quite sometime for all the right and wrong reasons. It’s got people talking, sleuths sleuthing, and the rest of us laughing and admiring the work.
