Desmond Watson Height Weight Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers put defensive tackle Desmond Watson on the Non-Football Injury List for showing up to training camp at 450 pounds

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are starting training camp by placing defensive tackle Desmond Watson on the Non-Football Injury List for arriving at the facilities at a scale-busting 450 pounds.

Four. Hundred. Fifty. Pounds. One man. One unit. One gravitational force.

Apparently, the Bucs signed the biggest human being in football and then were shocked when he, well, remained the biggest human being in football.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Desmond Watson has always been a big ol’ boy

Side Note: Desmond Watson played at Florida so maybe my sun strategy won’t work

Desmond Watson is in fact working out with the Bucs. He was off on the sidelines doing conditioning drills and reportedly moving well for someone of his stature. He’s just going to remain on the shelf until he hits a “weight goal” that was set for him.

I don’t really understand that. Seems like it will be the opposite, right? If you want Desmond Watson to lose weight, then you might as well have him practicing outside in that hot, humid, Florida sun in order to shed pounds faster.

Todd Bowles on Desmond Watson:

Did Desmond Watson know that he would have to lose weight before playing when he signed with the Bucs? My boy is 6-foot-5, 450 pounds of pure leverage and lane-clogging mass.

Why did the Bucs sign a walking eclipse only to whittle him down into a tight end? Honestly, I have no idea. I don’t really care either. I will say that my Philadelphia Eagles will be down in Tampa in Week 4 and if you haven’t already, book your trip with Phans of Philly.

Phans of Philly will handle EVERYTHING and you’ll be staying in Clearwater Beach, within walking distance to the Gulf of America and as many bars and restaurants you could possibly dream of. Check out those travel packages here.

Speaking of the Birds, Desmond Watson should talk to Jordan Davis

Jordan Davis showed up to Eagles training camp on Thursday looking leaner, quicker, and smiling like a guy who knows he’s about to prove some people wrong.

The 6’6” defensive tackle told 94.1 WIP Devan Kaney that he dropped 26 pounds this offseason and now weighs in at 330. That’s the lightest our guy been since his sophomore year at Georgia, and it might be the difference between being a rotational run stuffer and finally turning into a full-time beast on the Eagles’ defensive line.

Regardless, I do think it’s fair to question what the Bucs are doing with Desmond Watson. I think that they should let Watson cook, literally and figuratively or at the very least, make him sweat. Keeping him off the field until he slims down is like telling a sumo wrestler he’s benched until he becomes a gymnast.

It’s dumb. Let the big dawg eat. And run. And tackle. And eat again.
