Phillies wreak havoc in the Bronx, outscore the Yankees 21-9 over first two games of the series
Things are getting real bad in the Bronx and I’m happy to report that the Phillies are making it a whole lot worse.
Nick Castellanos banged up, Aaron Nola set for rehab start, Phillies shuffle roster
The Fightins’ rolled into Yankee Stadium this weekend, dropped a 12-spot on Friday, and came back Saturday afternoon to smack the Yankees around again, this time 9-4.
Bryce Harper hit one into the right-field abyss, Kyle Schwarber added another two-run double, and the Phillies pushed the Yankees even deeper into existential despair.
The Realmuto Revival Continues…
Bryce Harper with a BOMB
Bryce Harper absolutely destroyed a home run deep into the seats at Yankee Stadium. He went 2-for-3 with two walks and two RBI. Harp’s OPS is now overing around the .950 mark again, which is a great sign for the Phillies post All-Star break.
Much like his pal Schwarber, Harper is in vintage MVP mode and the Phillies are applying some serious pressure to Mets who are barely hanging onto first place in the National League East.
Trea Turner TV
Philly has now outscored the Yankees 21-9 over two games. Schwarber has driven in six runs, and Trea Turner looks like he’s on a personal mission to bankrupt MLB’s hit tracker.
Edmundo Sosa takes the Yanks’ souls
Edmundo Sosa hit a two-run homer in the 7th and was having a nice day… until Brandon Marsh slammed into his back in shallow left while trying to catch a popup.
Sosa left with a contusion, and is now day-to-day. The catch stood after a challenge, but we’re gonna need Marsh to tone down the WWE energy next time. Otto Kemp replaced Sosa in the lineup, and Rob Thomson will reassess before Sunday’s finale.

Wheels up: Phillies look for a sweep in the Bronx
Zack Wheeler (9-3, 2.39 ERA) gets the ball Sunday against Carlos Rodón (10-7, 3.10 ERA) for the series finale in the Bronx. The Phillies have a chance to sweep the Yankees and send them fully into tabloid-fueled implosion mode before the deadline.
