Mikael Uhre, Union run past Rapids, hold top spot for the Supporters Shield
The Union are back from the All-Star break and they haven’t missed a beat. Behind a second-half flurry and a late-game brace from Mikael Uhre, Philadelphia stormed back to beat the Colorado Rapids 3-1 at Subaru Park on Saturday night.
Chalk it up as a statement that this club isn’t going anywhere in the Supporters’ Shield race. Philly outshot Colorado 30-5 and had nearly five expected goals. Domination doesn’t even begin to cover it.
The Union comeback started with the usual suspect.
The Union trailed at one point. After conceding the opener in the 37th minute, they flipped the switch and overwhelmed the Rapids with an impressive offensive attack.
In the 64th minute, Tai Baribo buried his 15th goal of the season on a perfect cross from Kai Wagner to even the match.
From there, they kept pressing.
Enter Mikael Uhre.
In the 89th, the striker pounced on a loose ball, danced into a window, and snapped a low shot off the right post to put them ahead.
Then, in stoppage time, Alejandro Bedoya, who’s still making winning plays at age 37, picked off a lazy Rapids pass and launched a long ball that Uhre chased down and calmly finished to seal the deal.
July Domination
Philly wrapped up July with a 3-1-1 record and now sit at 15-5-5 (50 pts), good enough to stay one point ahead of FC Cincinnati atop the Supporters’ Shield standings. Their +19 goal differential also leads MLS.

Next Up
The Union will host Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt for a friendly next Saturday (5:30 PM), then return to MLS play the following weekend against Toronto FC back at Subaru Park. Right now, No one looks more complete or more confident than Philadelphia.
