Former Eagles President gives strange response to Micah Parsons trade request from the Cowboys

There’s trouble in Jerry’s world. How many times have we heard that before? With Micah Parsons officially announcing his request for a trade from the Dallas Cowboys, Eagles fans obviously went nuts all over social media. “BRING HIM HOME!” But, not everyone in Eagles nation was in agreement.

Former Eagles president, Joe Banner chimed in on Twitter. And I’m trying to figure out the point he’s trying to make here.

Mr. Banner. Respectfully, I hope you’re not defending Jerry Jones here. Most likely not, but his response isn’t the most encouraging thing ever for those of us that want to see this trade happen.

Former Eagles president Joe Banner on Micah Parsons

Let’s not sugarcoat it. Micah Parsons is a freak. A game-wrecker. The heart and soul of the Cowboys’ defense. Since entering the league in 2021, all he’s done is dominate from Day 1.

  • Rookie Year? 84 total tackles, 12 sacks, 3 forced fumbles. Oh, and Defensive Rookie of the Year.
  • Year 2? 13.5 sacks, another Pro Bowl, another All-Pro.
  • Now? He’s sitting on four straight Pro Bowls and three All-Pro selections in just four seasons.

Let The Circus Burn

Instead of paying your best player and treating him properly, Jerry Jones and company have done the complete opposite. And with the notes app style tweet Parsons sent out yesterday, there’s no shot this relationship is repaired.

I hate to break it to you Mr. Banner, but Parsons will be getting traded. It’s over. The Dallas Cowboys should embrace an entire rebuild. The ship is sinking and they haven’t even played a preseason game.

And with all due respect towards Joe Banner and his experience in NFL front-offices. I think he’s off on this one.

The Real Question: Could the Eagles actually pull off this trade?

Unfortunately, I don’t see any universe where Jerry Jones would trade Micah Parsons to the Philadelphia Eagles. I know, it sucks. But, him leaving the Cowboys only further cements the fact that the NFC East runs through the Eagles.

And with Terry McLaurin requesting a trade from the Commanders as well, the gap between the Birds and the rest of the division just keeps on getting larger.
