WATCH: Jhoan Duran threw nothing but gas to seal the win for the Phillies in the 9th inning
The Phillies called on closer Jhoan Duran to come in and shut down the Tigers’ hopes of coming back from a 2-0 deficit, and let’s just say the new addition did not disappoint.
Jhoan Duran emptied the tank for his second save in as many games as a Phillie:

Just so we’re clear, here’s the velo on those last six pitches.

Sweet Jesus. I don’t even know what to say other than thank god the Phillies went and got him before the deadline.
I can’t even remember the names of the prospects we traded to get him. As far as I’m concerned, they were never even here to begin with.
Sure, he was throwing hard, but he did so with ease. This is exactly what the Phillies needed at the backend of the bullpen.
Combine that with the most electric entrance in all of sports, and it looks like Philadelphia has a new favorite son in the Durantula. The city is officially on high alert for Red October.
