WATCH: Tommy Pham delivered the worst throw of the MLB season last night in Pittsburgh
Just when you think the Pittsburgh Pirates have maxed out their embarrassment quota for the 2025 MLB season, here comes Tommy Pham with what has to be the worst throw of the year.
In the fifth inning of Tuesday night’s blowout loss to the Giants, Tommy Pham mailed in the worst throw you’ll see all year. Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos slapped a routine base hit to left, and Pham fielded it cleanly… and then proceeded to throw (kind of) the baseball into second.

Ramos, alert and probably confused, casually strolled into second base. The Giants dugout was in disbelief. Everyone watching the replay was in disbelief.
Ramos then scored moments later on an infield single by Rafael Devers, followed by a two-run bomb from Willy Adames that officially blew the game wide open.
The baseball landed here…lol

Tommy..not great, brother
To be fair, it looked like the ball might have slipped but this is Pham we’re talking about.
Earlier in the same game, he struck out and hit himself in the head with his own bat.

That’s the kind of night it was. That’s also kind of the vibe of the entire Pirates season.
Pittsburgh is now 49-65 and still finding new, innovative ways to lose baseball games. Say what you want about the Buccos, but at least they’re keeping it entertaining. Whether it’s botched throws, rogue bats, or Pham nearly assaulting his own forehead, this team stays committed to the bit.
