Edmundo Sosa goes deep, Phillies sweep Rangers with 4-2 win on Sunday
The Phillies just rolled through Texas and took every bit of momentum home with them. Zack Wheeler was dialed in, Edmundo Sosa left the yard, and Philadelphia finished off a three-game sweep of the Rangers with a 4-2 win on Sunday.
Zack Wheeler (10-5) while experiencing a slight dip in velocity, was solid. Wheels punched out seven, and allowed just three hits while extending his strikeout-streak to 19 straight starts.
Texas landed the first punch with a Joc Pederson two-run blast in the first, but The Fightins didn’t flinch. Bryce Harper doubled in a run in the fourth, Sosa tied it with a solo shot in the fifth, and Weston Wilson drove in the go-ahead run two batters later. Brandon Marsh tacked on insurance in the ninth with a sac fly.

The bullpen locked it down from there, with Jhoan Duran slamming the door for his 20th save of the season. Since joining the bullpen at the deadline, Duran’s allowed just one baserunner in four outings.
The moment that saved the sweep was Harrison Bader’s robbery in the fifth.
With Corey Seager eyeing a game-tying homer, Bader went full highlight-reel mode, leaping above the wall in right-center to steal it away.

The numbers don’t lie. The Fightins are lethal with a lead. Philly is now 49-2 when ahead after six innings and 57-2 after seven, both best in baseball.
