Bill Colarulo delivers a Call to Arms for 94.1 WIP listeners to “make the switch” to The Fanatic in order to free themselves from rage bait
The People’s Radio Host, Bill Colarulo officially delivered a Call to Arms, encouraging listeners of 94.1 WIP to make the switch to The Fanatic in order to free themselves from rage and clickbait.
If you remember, I covered this back in June and crowned Bill Colarulo The Peoples Host of Philly Sports Talk radio. At the time, the newly minted afternoon radio host on The Fanatic stepped up to the mic and said what every rational Eagles fan had been thinking for months, when talking about Jalen Hurts.
Colarulo went scorched earth on the clowns, local and national, who keep peddling this tired, lazy narrative that Jalen Hurts isn’t an elite quarterback and more specifically, “can’t throw.”
You know the takes. The ones where Hurts is just a glorified running back, and the Eagles can’t evolve because their quarterback can’t make throws from the pocket. Hurts is only good because of the players around him. Hurts is a system quarterback.
Blah Blah. Blah.
Honestly, I thought Colarulo was simply making a splash early in his afternoon show debut but now, he’s continuing the good fight and telling listeners point blank to ditch 94.1 WIP and check out The Fanatic.
Bill Colarulo: “Fans Deserve Better Than Rage Bait, Make The Switch”
“Make the switch. Turn it off. Why do you let them get to you like this? Save them from the ragebait. Save them from the clickbait, because Jalen Hurts just won the damn Super Bowl… and you’re asking if we should be concerned about his camp when you haven’t even seen a damn practice.”
If you’re wondering who he’s talking about, he’s pointing the finger right at Joe Giglio, who was on air Thursday questioning Hurts’ “rocky start” to camp.
At this point, everyone in the city knows that Joe Giglio has no spine and is one of the dumbest people in the world, so it did not come as a surprise to anyone paying attention. Personally, I don’t listen to 94.1 WIP and I definitely don’t give a shit about Jalen Hurts, the Eagles, or really anything to do with training camp in the middle of August.
I’ll be ready for Week 1. Until then, leave me out of it.
It is very refreshing to see Colarulo breaking that unwritten rule of mentioning another station. How The Fanatic can sit there and get destroyed in the ratings over and over again and not speak up about it always confused me.
If you’ve been keeping up with Radio Wars over at Crossing Broad, you know damn well that WIP has dominated the Philly Sports Talk Radio market for years.
What we rarely see is one station even acknowledging the other. Both stations continuously operate like the other doesn’t even exist. It’s super annoying, even more so when everyone else, the consumers, are talking about both stations online, with the majority of conversations being negative.
It’s a turf war and neither want to get in the mud and settle it, so credit to The People’s Host for finally changing that.
Will it actually work? Probably not.
WIP is intertwined with the Eagles and the roots run too deep to completely uproot them. They have the broadcast rights and a (shitty) formula that drives ratings, where they completely abandon their moral compass and civic duty in providing fair and balanced sports coverage, but you cannot argue against the results.
Bill Colarulo wants what the common Philly sports fan has been screaming about on social media for years. He’s delivering an anti-WIP agenda and a rally cry to ditch the fake outrage and hot-take clickbait for normal sports talk.
That’s definitely something that The Liberty Line will support, but does Philadelphia actually want that? I have my doubts.
“Measured and reasonable” Philly sports talk radio is something new in the city and who knows if listeners will accept that over an easy WIP dopamine hit over Jalen Hurts’ imaginary training camp struggles.
