FOX NFL Scorebug

It’s Preseason Week 2 and fans are already roasting the new NFL score bug on FOX

The NFL season hasn’t even kicked off yet, and FOX has already managed to tick people off. During Sunday’s preseason game between the Bears and Bills, the broadcast rolled out a brand-new score bug and let’s just say, it didn’t exactly win the crowd.

Instead of clean, bordered team logos, the new look featured what fans described as “digitally naked” logos slapped onto the screen with zero personality.

Fans Didn’t Hold Back

On social media, people torched the design. Some called it pointless innovation for the sake of change. Others went a step further, saying it looked like something they could’ve whipped up on Microsoft Paint in five minutes.

To be fair, a few fans argued it’s still an improvement over the one FOX rolled out at Super Bowl LIX. That version that had bland abbreviations instead of logos. That design got hammered in February, and apparently FOX took notes… just maybe not the right ones.

FOX Super Bowl LIX Scorebug was a disaster too…

FOX is fixing something that wasn’t broken

This all speaks to a bigger issue with TV networks messing with their score bugs. Fans are creatures of habit and nostalgia plays heavy in sports, whether it’s about old jerseys, throwback logos, or yes, even broadcast graphics. When networks change something that doesn’t feel broken, viewers notice and they usually hate it.

FOX is clearly trying to modernize the look, but right now, it feels more like a swing and a miss than a sleek upgrade. The preseason is usually for players to work out the kinks, but apparently the broadcast is in preseason mode too. Let’s see if they stick with this version when the real games begin or if fan pressure forces another redesign before Week 1.
