You don’t see this every day. Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles, currently on a Triple-A rehab stint with Tacoma, completely snapped Sunday in Las Vegas.

After getting drilled by a pitch from Joey Estes, a ball that rode way inside, Robles didn’t just take his base. He swung, didn’t get awarded first, and instead turned around and launched his bat back toward the mound.

Victor Robles is a psycho lol

Immediate ejection. Game over. Tacoma eventually lost 12-7, but the highlight, or lowlight, was Robles’ meltdown.

Robles is coming back from a fractured shoulder that’s kept him out since April, when he wrecked himself making a dangerous catch in San Francisco’s foul ground.

Add in the fact he’s been plunked five times in 15 at-bats during this rehab stint, and the frustration boiled over. Robles recently lost his mother, something he opened up about on Instagram after the game.

Victor Robles’ Apology

To his credit, Robles owned up to the moment quickly:

• He apologized to teammates, opponents, and fans.
• He admitted rehab has been “physically and mentally challenging.”
• He pointed to his grief and repeated HBP frustrations as context, not excuses.
• He promised to be better moving forward, as both a player and competitor.

“I let my frustration get the best of me,” Robles wrote. “This game means the world to me… I’m committed to being better.”

The Bigger Picture

Victor Robles has been in the majors for nine seasons and was supposed to give Seattle steady depth this year. Instead, he’s played just 10 games. For a guy already fighting to stay healthy and stay relevant, this incident doesn’t help.

Still, given what he’s gone through off the field, it’s a reminder that players are human first. Throwing a bat at a pitcher is indefensible, but at the very least, Robles’ honesty afterward shows he knows it too.
