WATCH: PGA Tour Volunteer does whatever it takes to chase down Tommy Fleetwood’s drive
Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear khakis and a “VOLUNTEER” badge. During Sunday’s final round of the TOUR Championship at East Lake, Tommy Fleetwood yanked a drive left off the 10th tee. Before the ball even hit the grass, a PGA Tour volunteer immediately locked in like a cornerback sniffing out a pick-six.
We’re talking full sprint. He ducked under gallery ropes, nearly got smoked by a golf cart, and zig-zagged through the crowd like his paycheck depended on it. The guy refused to let Fleetwood’s Titleist escape his grasp.

A Volunteer on a Mission
That’s a man who takes his job very seriously. Ball-spotting at golf tournaments is usually a chill gig. Point at a white ball, hold your hand up, then step aside.
Not this guy. He turned it into a personal highlight reel. Now that Fleetwood finally won, he owes this dude at least a signed glove and a beer.
Tommy Fleetwood’s Sunday Sweat
For TOmmy Fleetwood, the stakes were massive. The Englishman entered the back nine with a 3-shot lead and ultimately secured his first career PGA Tour victory.
It’s been a rough run. Fleetwood had a handful of close calls, including a meltdown at the FedEx St. Jude just two weeks ago. This week was different. Tommy Fleetwood had the entire sports world rooting for him and with volunteers literally putting their lives on the line to track his drives, the golf gods finally throw him a bone.
