Keegan Bradley Announces Six Captains Picks to Complete 2025 United States Ryder Cup Team
After months of speculation, Keegan Bradley officially put the captain’s hat above his golf bag. The U.S. Ryder Cup captain announced his six picks on Wednesday and confirmed he won’t be pulling double duty as both player and captain when the Americans take on Europe next month at Bethpage Black.
Keegan Bradley on not picking himself:
“I grew up wanting to play Ryder Cups. I grew up wanting to fight alongside these guys and it broke my heart not to play. It really did… but ultimately I was chosen to do a job. I was chosen to be a captain.”
The Big Decision
Keegan Bradley’s name was the one hovering over all of this. Left off the 2023 team that got crushed in Rome, he spent the last year playing well enough to at least make the conversation awkward.
A win at the Travelers in June gave him two victories in the past 13 months, plus he sits 11th in the world rankings, eighth among Americans.
Stat guys will tell you he’s the 10th-best American right now and they are probably right.
The reality is that Keegan Bradley never rose above ninth in Ryder Cup points and ultimately finished 11th, and he stuck to what he said a year ago when he said that if he wasn’t qualifying on points, he’d stay in the captain’s role.
Still, it wasn’t easy. Teammates and assistants reportedly lobbied him to pick himself. Instead, he decided the challenge of being captain and player wasn’t worth it.
Bradley’s picks fill out a squad led by automatic qualifiers Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English, and Bryson DeChambeau.
The Captain Picks: Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Cam Young, Patrick Cantlay, and Sam Burns.
That’s the group trying to keep a home win streak alive. The Americans haven’t lost on U.S. soil since 2012.

Keegan Bradley’s Perspective
“This has been the most incredible year of my life,” Bradley said in Frisco. “The support I’ve gotten from fans everywhere — at tournaments, restaurants, gas stations — it’s been the biggest thrill of my career.”
It’s a bittersweet twist. Keegan Bradley is probably one of the Top 12 Americans right now, but at Bethpage Black, he’ll be a captain only, not a captain’s pick.
