Eagles Fans No Tickets Tailgate Travel Warning

Eagles release statement telling fans without tickets to not tailgate on Thursday, which I’m confident absolutely no one will listen to

The Eagles decided to drop a statement ahead of Thursday night’s season opener against the Cowboys, and it’s a real head-scratcher.

Because of the SEPTA cuts, the team is requesting that fans without tickets to the game don’t tailgate at the Sports Complex. Instead, they suggest “arrangements should be made to enjoy the game with family and friends at another location.”

As sarcastically stated above, this statement from the Eagles won’t work

This is South Philly. It’s opening night. The Super Bowl champs are raising a banner and kicking off the season against Dallas.

The organization is trying to float the idea that people should not head down to the Sports Complex because they don’t have tickets?

Whoever thought this announcement was a good idea should probably be reassigned to counting soft pretzels in the concourse.

Maybe the Eagles are just playing politics here, trying to put more pressure on SEPTA by pretending that staying home is a reasonable option.

If they honestly expect fans to skip the tailgate scene, they’re out of their damn minds. Tailgating is the entire culture. The lots, the grills, the chants, the chaos, the crowd that packs into Xfinity Live before kickoff, you name it, doesn’t matter.

That’s what makes Game Day in Philly what it is and a Public Service Announcement isn’t changing anything.

Nobody’s listening to this. Obviously.

I know there’s a ton of moving parts in the whole SEPTA debacle but at some point, all blame is going to have to be placed on them for not figuring out the hellscape that they are creating in South Philly.

I’m sick of SEPTA just running out there and saying “well funding costs, what can ya do” – it’s so lazy. Figure it out. Once you start fucking with football and Eagles fans tailgating, then you’re going to hear about it. Constantly. From me. All the time.

If anything, that statement is only going to motivate even more people to load up the coolers and head to South Philly on Thursday night. You can’t stop Eagles fans from tailgating, especially when the Cowboys are in town.

So yeah, nice try. See everyone in the lots.

  1. How would you like it to pay big bucks for tickets, arrive 3 hrs early and have to go home after driving in circles for hours because every lot is full of drunken non ticket holders. That’s what happened last Dallas game. Total BS.

  2. first person to blame the fans and not the eagles for a dumb message, septa for screwing over fans, and politicians not giving a shit. luckily, fanduel (of all companies) bailed them all out and will keep the trains running
