Don’t get me wrong, I know the Phillies can’t help themselves and chase pitches out of the zone constantly but this at-bat from Francisco Alvarez was the worst I’ve seen in a long time. 

Three straight curveballs off the plate with the game on the line in the ninth inning. Guys on second and third. Two outs. This is the at-bat that Francisco Alvarez put together against Jhoan Duran.

Absolute shit show. The first is a check swing. The next is one even more outside, followed by basically the same spot as the first pitch. Alvarez bit on all three. Game over. Phillies win and take an 8-game lead in the NL East. 

Poetic, really. I guess that’s what happens when you put hands on Edmundo Sosa.
