Desperate Times: The Phillies subreddit is now Wawa-themed until further notice
The Phillies are terrible, and this awful season has broken fans more terribly than I’ve seen in a long, long time. Morale is so decimated that r/Phillies, the subreddit for fans to talk about the team, has changed to a Wawa-themed subreddit until they win a series.
Based on recent play, we may be waiting a long time until that changes.
The Phillies subreddit admin announced the change after last night’s loss:
I went to check r/Phillies on Reddit and noticed that they’re no longer accepting posts about the Phillies due to the losing streak. They’re only allowing posts about Wawa now.

I can’t even be mad at this. When your team has the worst run differential in the National League and is actively refusing to score runs or get anyone out, you find comfort where you can. And there is no greater comfort in the Delaware Valley than a Wawa hoagie at 11 pm, made by a man who, frankly, should be running this franchise.
Phillies fans wasted no time embracing the new regime:
New Wawa reward just dropped

This bit actually did happen before, back in 2017, when the subreddit went Wawa-themed during a similarly brutal stretch. That team was also a disaster. They eventually escaped it, but this is a different era of Philadelphia baseball.
The thing is, that team had an excuse, they were in a rebuild. This team has Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, Cristopher Sanchez, and Sleepy Dave Dombrowski’s entire payroll committed to winning a World Series.
What’s odd, though, is that there is already a Wawa subreddit. This poses a bit of a conflict of interest, but desperate times call for desperate measures. And, brother, we are desperate here in Philadelphia.
So, when exactly do you think they’re going to win a series? Because I’ve watched 25 games and I genuinely have no idea. In the meantime, that Wawa reward looks pretty useful. Might have to dial that up sometime soon.
