Caleb Williams pulled a Carson Wentz on Monday Night with Wentz watching from the sidelines

I’ve been saying it for months now, Caleb Williams is not that guy. Dude has all the ability in the world, and at times, it shined through Monday night. But all in all, he’s just a Carson Wentz clone.

It was fitting, having Williams do his best Wentz impression with No. 11 on the Vikings sideline. The Bears QB got off to a hot start, going 10-for-10 with a rushing touchdown on the first drive. Scripted plays are a quarterback’s best friend, especially when they’re coming from Ben Johnson.

After this, Caleb Williams completely fell apart

It was all downhill from here. Chicago’s defense had JJ McCarthy in hell for three and a half quarters, but Caleb Williams couldn’t pull away. Missed throw after missed throw. Punt after punt. McCarthy never flinched. Caleb cowered and ultimately lost the game.

Is that not Carson Wentz to a tee? You get a handful of electric plays every game, followed by some of the worst throws and decisions you’ve ever seen a QB make. And as the cherry on top, Carson got to watch like a proud father.

A supposed generational talent fading before our eyes, while the “game manager” who dragged Minnesota to under 100 yards through three quarters suddenly flipped a switch and did what Caleb and Wentz almost never do — win.

It’s poetic, really. And it once again proves that none of these “experts” know a damn thing about football.

It’s not just about arm talent, no matter how much Chris Simms and Chase Daniel want you to believe it is. It’s about what you do when the stakes are high and the lights are the brightest. JJ rose to the moment and delivered. Caleb folded on national television.

What did all that arm talent do for Caleb Monday night? Cause five overthrows, bringing him to 57 total since the beginning of last year, by far the most of any QB during that time. The next closest is Box Nix with 35.

And to any Bears fan reading this: take it from someone who bought into the Carson Wentz hype for five long years. The sooner you accept what Caleb Williams actually is, the easier it’ll be when Chicago inevitably moves on from him.
