Phillies fan interference saves team from a triple in 4th inning
A Phillies fan saved their team from a Juan Soto triple in the fourth inning by reaching over the outfield fence trying to catch the ball. Soto was clearly heading for third, but the interference call capped it.
This Phillies fan reached over the fence and made sure Soto could only take two bases. Seems like a veteran move if there ever was one:

So fan interference is good, actually? That certainly seems to be the case in this instance.
Soto did end up scoring on a Starling Marte single, so I suppose the point wound up being moot, but you never know. The butterfly effect is real as far as I’m concerned.
Also, for the moronic Mets fans who somehow still don’t know the ground rules at Citizens Bank Park and think that should have been a homerun, you’re simply wrong. The ball has to clear the fence at the top of the wall as well.
Soto did end up getting some revenge on that Phillies fan with a solo shot in the 8th inning. But with that home run only making the score 9-2 in favor of the Fightins, the damage had already been done.
