Eagles Road Trip Guide: Kansas City – Week 2

If you’re planning to make the trip to Kansas City to watch the Eagles take on the Chiefs Week 2, but have no idea what to do when you get there, you’ve come to the right place.

This is the comprehensive Eagles Road Trip Guide: Kansas City edition.

Of course, if you want to skip the planning and let the professionals handle everything, you’ should ‘d be silly not to book with Phans of Philly. They handle flights, hotels, game tickets, and even have an all-inclusive tailgate. Plus they always put on an event or two to keep the vibes rolling through the weekend into gameday.

We took the trip to KC back in 2023 and, while the weather was miserable, the Eagles pulled off the win. Plus, their fans might be crybabies on Twitter, but they are another city that truly knows two things we all care about: football and food.

Arrowhead is also the site of the most polite fight I’ve ever seen at a game. These college-age kids sitting behind us were talking smack to us all game, but after the Eagles prevailed, they shook our hands and said “it was an absolute pleasure, but if that guy two rows down in the Jalen Hurts jersey says one more thing to us, we’re going to punch him in the face.”

Lo and behold, that fan mouthed off, and our newfound friends made good on their promise and cleaned his clock. It was weird to be rooting against one of our fellow countrymen on an Eagles road trip, but that’s exactly what happened.

But enough reminiscing, I’ve got recommendations to share with you.

KC Live! – Power and Light District (Downtown)

KC Live! is like if Xfinity Live! was a place I actually want to go to. It’s got an outdoor courtyard and connects two whole floors of bars and restaurants. There’s something for everyone, and Brian Cass and I had a blast at Howl at the Moon and Shark Bar. So much so, in fact, that we ended up getting separated. What a night that was.

County Road Ice House Power and Light District (Downtown)

Simply put, this is a great bar serving up solid KC barbecue. We went here right after we landed in 2023 to meet up with the one and only Dunphy, and, needless to say, we went back a few more times after that.

Silver Spoon Cafe – Power and Light District (Downtown)

This here is a classic breakfast spot. We ate there before heading to the tailgate in 2023, and let me tell you, I ate some of the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had. Great hangover cure or just to fuel up for a day of hitting the town.

Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que Gas station location (47th & Mission)

Joe’s is a KC institution. The Z-Man sandwich featuring smoked brisket, provolone, and onion rings is iconic.

Q39 – Westport & South locations

Modern BBQ with chef-driven touches. Great for ribs, burnt ends, and craft beer pairings.

Up-Down KCCrossroads

Retro arcade bar with vintage games, 50+ taps, and rooftop seating.

Pro Tips

  • Westport & Crossroads neighborhoods are nightlife central. They’re walkable and full of bars and bites.
  • RideKC streetcar is free and connects downtown, Crossroads, and Union Station. They’re super convenient for bar hopping and as TLL’s resident urbanist and transit enthusiast, I was pretty jealous most of Philly doesn’t have a transit system like this.

Even if you’ve already booked your tickets, hotel, and travel, you’ve still gotta tailgate before the game, right? That’s what I thought. You can still book tailgate only or tailgate and game ticket options with Phans too.

Very real and legitimate journalist. I don't see a loss on the schedule.
