John Daly enters history books with one of the worst carded holes that you’ll ever see in golf

John Daly has never been shy about leaving his mark on golf history but usually, it’s with monster drives, wild outfits, or chain-smoking his way down fairways. On Friday at the Sanford International in Sioux Falls, he gave us a record nobody wanted to see.

Big John Daly made a 19 on the par-5 12th hole.

Yeah, you read that right. Nineteen. Originally, it was recorded as a 17, which is bad enough. Then officials double-checked his card and, nope, it was worse. A 19.

That’s the highest single-hole score ever posted on the PGA Tour Champions.

The John Daly Horror Show

• Daly hit his opening tee shot into the rough.
• From there, he proceeded to dunk seven balls into the hazard. Seven!
• When he finally cleared the water, he ended up back in the rough.
• A couple more hacks later, he wrapped it up with an up-and-down for the ugliest 19 you’ll ever see.

The silver lining?

For context, Daly’s previous career-worst was an 18 at Bay Hill back in 1998. Leave it to him to break his own record.

Somehow, the guy didn’t just walk off the course and head for the nearest Hooters. He kept playing, mixed in a birdie and a bogey on the final six holes, and finished with an 18-over 88. That sounds terrible until you remember 14 of those strokes came on one hole.

It’s ridiculous. It’s outrageous. It’s John Daly. Nobody else could turn a single hole into a car crash, keep hacking away, then casually roll in a birdie a couple holes later.

At this point, you don’t watch Daly expecting consistency. You watch because literally anything can happen, including a 19 on a par 5.
