As predicted, Davante Adams is headed to Quinyonamo Bay after he tried to ‘son’ the Eagles’ CB during pregame interview

Davante Adams had some words before today’s matchup with the Eagles and as predicted in my initial post, he truly did book himself a one-way ticket to Quinyonamo Bay after the Birds came all the way back to beat the Rams 33-26 in Week 3.

Davante Adams just booked himself a one-way ticket to Quinyonamo Bay

Here’s what Davante Adams said about facing off against Quinyon Mitchell:

“He’s a great young player … But I’m hoping I can show him a few things he’s never seen, never had to deal with before today.”

Honestly, I tried to warn Davonte Adams.

Hope is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torment of man, and that’s exactly what happened once Quinyon Mitchell shadowed him in today’s game.

Quinyon Mitchell just put Davante Adams in JAIL

Quinyanmo Bay.

In Week 3, Mitchell shadowed Adams on 27 of his 34 routes. That’s 79.4% of the time. It was the first game of his young career where he tracked a receiver on more than 60% of their routes. That’s not easing into a matchup, that’s stepping straight into the cage with one of the best wideouts of this era.

Mitchell lined up across from Adams on 22 post-snap matchups and held him to just 2 catches for 12 yards on 5 targets. That’s a future Hall of Famer who makes a living off cooking corners, and Mitchell flat-out erased him. Adams’ only other catch was a 44-yard touchdown that unfortunately, came at the expense of Reed Blankenship, not Mitchell.

Year 2 corners aren’t supposed to look this polished against a receiver like Davante Adams. That doesn’t apply to Quinyon Mitchell. As we all know here in Philly, he isn’t just “developing.” He’s already here. He’s been forged daily in practice against A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and it shows when he steps onto the field.
