Speed Demon: Jordan Davis reached 18.59 mph on the blocked field goal touchdown return

Jordan Davis is not human.

On Sunday, the Eagles’ 340-pound defensive tackle didn’t just block a potential game-winning Rams field goal and return it for a touchdown as time expired. He hit 18.59 mph while doing it. That’s not a typo. That’s the fastest speed recorded by any player over 330 pounds since at least 2017.

Think about that. We’re talking about a man who could double as a small SUV, moving at nearly 19 mph in full pads with the football in his hands. There are running backs who dream about that kind of burst. Linebackers who would kill for it. Davis just casually hit that gear after singlehandedly flipping the outcome of a game.

The play was already legendary. Jordan Davis had the block, the scoop, and the house call to seal a 33-26 Eagles win. The speed stat makes it mythological. Jordan Davis didn’t just save the day, he entered freak-of-nature territory.

There’s no game plan for this. You can’t scheme against physics being broken in real time. The Eagles have an actual juggernaut in the trenches, and the rest of the NFL better pray he doesn’t make a habit of running like that.
