Eagles could be down to 2 starting CBs vs. Bucs… is this Kelee Ringo’s last shot?

The Eagles’ secondary can’t catch a break. First it was depth concerns in camp, now it’s actual starters. Adoree’ Jackson left the Rams game with a groin injury, and Jakorian Bennett got banged up in that chaos of a blocked field goal sequence.

Both CBs could miss Sunday’s matchup against Tampa Bay, and which means Kelee Ringo might finally get thrown into the fire.

Believe it or not Eagles fans: Adoree’ Jackson hasn’t been a disaster this whole time…

This is it. No more excuses. No more waiting on “development.” Ringo’s been a hype name since draft night, but the reality is he hasn’t proven he can play outside corner at the NFL level.

The team practically begged him to take that CB2 job in camp, and he couldn’t. He’s been nothing but a special teams body since. Now, with two starters potentially sidelined, he’s got a clear runway.

If he blows it? That might be the nail in the coffin for his career here.

The Eagles don’t need “maybes.” This roster is built to win a Lombardi right now. Jordan Davis is a perfect example of a guy who flipped the switch late and is dominating in Year 4, but Ringo can’t afford to wait around for that kind of breakthrough.

The margin for error in this secondary is razor thin.

Once again if I’m Howie Roseman…

If I’m Howie Roseman, I’m already on the phone. You add one more legit outside corner to this defense, and suddenly the Eagles might have a top-five unit in football. This front office knows how close they are. You can’t gamble on Ringo becoming the guy on the fly against a team that still has weapons on the outside.

That said, this team’s track record speaks for itself. The Eagles don’t panic, they reload. If Ringo steps up, it’s a bonus. If he doesn’t, Howie will make sure there’s another option in midnight green by the deadline. Either way, the clock is ticking and for Kelee Ringo, this might be the last chance he ever gets to prove he belongs.
