Eagles’ Tush Push claims its first casualty in latest injury update
The Eagles’ infamous quarterback sneak, better known as the Tush Push, finally claimed a casualty. Lane Johnson — the heartbeat of this offensive line — suffered a stinger during the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams and was forced to exit. He didn’t return.
Jeff McLane of the Inquirer reported the injury, but Lane himself was quick to calm the panic button. “I’ll be good. Nothing major. Just a stinger,” Johnson told reporters postgame, already looking ahead to Week 4 against Tampa Bay.
Tush Push claims it’s first Eagles casualty
Lane Johnson suffered his stinger injury on the #Eagles’ first tush push of their opening series vs. the Rams, from what I understand, not on the second, touchdown-scoring one.

It’s the first notable injury the Eagles have had executing the play. As Johnson told me after the…
You already know what’s coming. The anti–Tush Push crowd is ready to pound their chest like this proves them right. For years, the narrative has been the same: “It’s dangerous. Someone’s going to get hurt.”
Well, now they’ve got ammo. But let’s be real — this is the first time we’ve seen an injury tied directly to the play. There’s zero data that says it’s more dangerous than any other short-yardage call. One freak stinger doesn’t erase the fact that the Eagles convert this thing at will and break opposing defenses’ souls while doing it.
The NFL Tried to Kill It and Failed
Remember, it only took two votes last offseason to wipe this play out of existence. Owners and coaches across the league hate it because they can’t stop it. Not because it’s unsafe, not because it’s unfair — because Philly perfected something they can’t replicate.
If Lane suits up against the Buccaneers next week, this entire controversy gets buried. The last thing Eagles fans should do is feed into the weak excuse-making from salty opponents. Let’s flip the script: go down to Tampa, run it right down their throats, and finally bury the Bucs curse once and for all.
