Iron Hill Brewery is officially shutting down every single one of its locations after filing for bankruptcy. The news dropped via an internal email that leaked out this morning via Breweries, PA but it looks like Iron Hill has now updated their website with the message above. Just like that, another name in the Philly-area beer scene is gone.

Iron Hill Brewery was fine. Nothing spectacular, but definitely solid. They had locations in Exton, West Chester, Media, and Voorhees, NJ where I knocked back a few over the years. Food was decent, beers were reliable, and it never felt like some soulless chain, even though it technically was one.

A good fallback spot if you wanted something consistent without going full dive bar.

As we’ve seen again and again, the craft beer bubble has burst. Over-saturation, younger people drinking less, adults leaning toward Michelob Ultra and other mass-produced stuff, it’s a brutal mix for anyone who’s trying to keep growing.

At some point, you can’t keep a massive operation like Iron Hill afloat, and eventually the whole thing comes crashing down.

That’s a big footprint to disappear all at once. RIP Iron Hill. Another victim of a beer economy that just doesn’t have room for everyone anymore.
