Jon Marks 97.5 The Fanatic

Jon Marks returns to 97.5 the Fanatic to take over Middays

First, it was Mike Missanelli getting the axe in August, now it’s Jon Marks making his way back to the Fanatic to take over the midday slot. Marks will be joined by Ray Dunne, with Bill Colarulo sliding into afternoons alongside Ricky Bottalico and Sylvana Kelleher.

The move was made official Thursday at 4:30 p.m. during Unfiltered, when the show teased a “special guest” that turned out to be Marks himself.

Jon Marks left his gig at PHLY last month and openly said he wanted to do middays again, which lined up perfectly with the Fanatic’s hole in the schedule.

Jon Marks returns to 97.5 the Fanatic to take over Middays

Jon Marks actually started his radio career at 97.5 two decades ago. Personally, the Missanelli/Marks/Brace show was one of the best shows Philly Sports Talk Radio has ever produced. He jumped ship to WIP in 2016, where he became part of the afternoon show with Ike Reese and Jack Fritz.

According to the Radio Wars folks at Crossing Broad, the original plan was for Marks and Missanelli to reunite in middays for about six months before Missanelli’s contract expired. Then Marks would take over full-time. Instead, Beasley cut costs, Missanelli was shown the door early, and we got seven weeks of Ray Dunne anchoring the slot in the meantime.

Supposedly the delay had something to do with severance paperwork on Missanelli’s end, but either way, the Fanatic basically lost a quarter of football season before getting their new show in place. That’s brutal timing when fall radio is all about the Birds.

Here’s the weekday lineup moving forward:

  • 6 a.m. – 10 a.m.: John Kincade, Andrew Salciunas, Connor Thomas
  • 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Jon Marks, Ray Dunne
  • 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.: Bill Colarulo, Ricky Bo, Sylvana Kelleher

It’s been a weird couple of months at 97.5, but the station finally has a set lineup again. Now it’s up to Marks and Dunne to make the midday show work.
